Skoda has revealed the VisionS concept large SUV which is likely to be called the Kodiak. This concept is a hybrid having made its debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. It looks sharp, aggressive character lines on the bonnet, front bumper, side profile and the rear. The sloping roofline compliments the entire design of the car.

The concept SUV comes with 3 rows of seats, offering space for 6 passengers. In terms of overall dimensions, the car is 4,700mm long, 1,910mm wide, and has a height of 1,680mm. The VisionS Concept has also been equipped with flush-mounted door handles, a dual exhaust system, and a tailgate spoiler.

The SUV is powered by a petrol-electric hybrid powerterain – a 154bhp (with 250Nm of torque) 1.4-litre petrol motor paired to 2 electric motors, a 54bhp (with 220Nm) gearbox-mounted unit and a 114bhp (with 270Nm) rear axle-mounted motor. The total system output for the hybrid powerterain is rated at 222bhp and gives the car a so-called ‘smart’ all-wheel drive (AWD) system without the need for mechanical coupling. Power is channelled to the wheels via a 6-speed DSG automatic gearbox.

The people at Skoda claim that the car is capable of going from 0-100 kmph in 7.4 seconds and has an all-electric range of about 50 km. The total range for the hybrid powerterain is claimed to be around 1,000 km. As with most electric and hybrid vehicles, drivers can choose to operate the VisionS purely on electric power, or activate the petrol engine to aid progress and recharge the battery.

The VisionS Concept is equipped with a 6 seats and comes filled to the brim with technology. There’s a digital instrument cluster, a front-passenger infotainment system, touchscreen controls and also a digital centre stack. There’s premium leather upholstery on offer and the passengers at the rear won’t be disappointed either because of the a rear-seat entertainment system.

The production version is likely to be equipped with the same 4-cylinder engines that are seen on the international Superb, with a 1.6-litre turbocharged diesel unit forming the base engine. A diesel-electric hybrid version of the SUV will also be offered, and 4-wheel drive will be optional on most models.

Audi is stepping up its way at the Geneva Auto Show where it decides to showcase its all new Audi Q2. IT is Audi’s forth ‘Q’Model with Q3, Q5 & Q7 already existing in the current markets. The Q2 is going to be the mini/ small SUV and will primarily target a younger audience.  The Audi Q2 will be a front wheel drive SUV that will also feature Audi’s signature Quattro All-Wheel Drive system only on the top-spec variant. One must note, unlike what rumours previously claimed, the teaser images make it abundantly clear that the Q2 will indeed be a 5-door.

The Audi Q2 will sport the distinctive design typical to Q SUVs along with LED head-lamps, a broad grille, and a seemingly flat rear.  Expect the interiors to be as radical as the exterior; complemented by a wide array of personalised options. The Audi Q2 is likely to come powered by a range four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines mated to either a 6-speed manual or a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. We may hear about the ‘S’ and the ‘RS’ versions a year later.

The Q2 is expected to launch in Europe between late August 2016 to October 2016. It is most certain that India is not getting it any time this year but it may arrive in the year 2017.

The new-generation model of the Ford Endeavour has been launched in India. Offering a total of 7 variants the prize goes all the way to 29.46 Lacs (X Showroom Mumbai)

The 2016 Ford Endeavour is based on Ford’s T6 platform and retains the Hulk-like personality along with the long stance. The front-end sports a massive chrome grille with projector head-lamps and DRLs. The bold bumper design comprises a very prominent silver skid plate that extends to house the LED fog-lamps as well.

Ford is offering two engine variants: the 3.2- and 2.2-litre Duratorq with just two trims, Trend and Titanium. The 2.2 TDCi is available in Trend 2WD/4WD manual or 2WD automatic and Titanium 2WD automatic. The 3.2 TDCi is only available in 4WD automatic in Trend or Titanium. The 2.2 litre TDCi develops 157bhp, which brings in at a reasonable 3200rpm. Torque is great at 385Nm. The 3.2-litre monster churns out 196bhp. The manual gearbox is a 6 speed, and so is the AT (only available on the 3.2-litre), which is the 6R80 autobox from the new generation of Ford’s F-Series pickups in the US.

The cabin is brilliant too: with bucket seats in the front, LED lamps, multi-information display, remote key entry, power windows with one touch and anti-pinch action, and rear parking sensors. It also gets voice control functionality on steering wheel, rain sensing viper, dual-zone AC-automatic climate control, cruise control, power folding 3rd row seat, terrain management system, and more.

We will have to wait and watch what the all new Toyota Fortuner has to offer.

The Mercedes Benz GLE 450 AMG has finally been launched in India with the price tag of 86.40 Lacs (X-Showroom Mumbai) In the global market’s Mercedes offers the GLE AMG Coupe in two trims – the GLE 450 AMG and the more powerful, AMG GLE63 S Coupe.

Design & Styling: The front section of the car is largely identical to its SUV evidently seen from the large grille, the Mercedes-Benz Logo at the centre and the infused air dam and air intakes that GLE a growling face. The new stuff is the Active LED headlamps with LED DRLs, which are much better than the standard Bi-Xenon headlamps and offers Active Curve Illumination and Adaptive Highbeam. The GLE 450 AMG Coupe also comes with 21-inch AMG twin 5-spoke alloy wheels and horizontal taillamps that features a fibre-optic dual “torch” design and LED turn signals and brake lamps.

Inside, the GLE 450 AMG features a luxuriously crafted cabin built with premium quality materials, sporty upholstery and Nappa leather multi-functional steering wheel among other features. Some other comfort features include heated front seats, Dual-zone automatic climate control, power tilt/telescopic steering column and more optional features. On safety front, the car comes with attention assist, rearview camera, adaptive breaking technology, electronic stability programme along with other optional offerings like blind spot assist and lane keeping assist among others.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE AMG 450 Coupe comes with AMG-enhanced 3.0-litre bi-turbo V-6 engine that offers instant response and decent fuel economy. The engine produces a maximum power of 362bhp and a peak torque of 520 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox that offers greater range of ratios and shorter steps between gears.

Ford Mustang: The new generation model will be made in right hand for the Indian Market. The 2.0 Litre, 4 cylinder EcoBoost version as well as the V8 will be launched at the Expo. it wont be cheap as it will be an import, so expect a high price tag.

Ford Endeavour 2016: Ford will be launching its Endeavour to give a tought fight to the Fortuner. There will be 2 diesel engines to offer: 2.2 Litre 4 cylinder making 158 bhp and 386NM torque and a 3.2 litre 5 cylinder making 197 bhp and 470 NM torque.

BMW 7 Series: We will see an all new BMW 7 series in 2016. IT will come with a V6 & a V8  petrol and diesel engine. It will come with a gesture contolled infotainment system and a key fob with a touchscreen.

Genesis G90: Its a Hyundai. It is its luxury car division, which aims to tell the world that the Koreans can do it too. Internationally, it is priced to rival the E Class and the 5 Series.

Honda BR-V: Honda will be launching the BR-V at the Auto Expo. It will come with 2 engine options: petrol and a diesel sourced from the City.

Maruti XA Aplha: The XA will be priced under 10 lacs and is said to be launched at the Expo. It is claimed to compete with the Eco Sport.

Toyota Innova 2016: Toyota will be displaying the new Innova at the Auto Expo. LED day time running lights and projector headlights will be offered in the top variant. Passengers will be treated with a plusher cabin, climate control, touchscreen infotainment system with bluetooth connectivity.

Jeep Wrangler: Jeep makes its official entry with the Wrangler & the Grand Cherokee. Its not going be cheap as they will be shipped to India as CBU’s.

Fiat 500X: Fiat 500 will make a surprise entry at the Auto Expo. It is expected to be priced around 30 lacs competing with the Mini Countryman.

Aegea: Fiat is also likely to showcase the Aegea launched in Turkey last year. The petrol motor may be sourced from the Linea T Jet while the diesel could be the 1.6 litre seen in the S Cross.
